When Hadassa was only a month old, Dad and Mom began to take her out to share Christian books on Sabbath afternoons. Dad or Mom carried her in their arms, and they visited with people waiting in their cars at red traffic lights.
Andrielle had heard about the end of the world in church. Every Sunday, her older sister, Shirley, took her and Alef to a different church. Andrielle heard at the churches that when the world ended, Jesus would come and take His children to heaven.
Then Dafne’s Mom became friends with Gaby’s Mom. Dafne’s Mom began to come to Gaby’s house to study the Bible with both Gaby and her mom. As they read the Bible, Gaby began to love Jesus.
As the weeks passed, Dafne saw that Sofia really liked the meetings. She really liked learning about Jesus. About fifteen Fridays after the first meeting, Dafne asked Sofia, “Would you like to give your heart to Jesus and be baptized?”
He had another reason. He was clapping because the house was so old and falling apart that it didn’t have a doorbell that he could ring. The house was so old and falling apart that it didn’t even have a door that he could knock on.

Kala heard the missionaries say that Jesus loves people and is ready to help them. She wondered if it was true. She thought, “Does Jesus really love people? Is He really ready to help them?”
Then God replied. Mana didn’t hear a voice, but he felt like God was speaking to his heart. “Don’t be afraid,” God said. “If you fail, it doesn’t matter because I’m going to lift you up and you’re going to be able to try again.”
Catalina cried the whole way. The wound hurt when her shirt touched it. Mom lifted her shirt, but the wound hurt when the wind blew against it. The cool wind that felt so nice on hot days didn’t feel so good now.
“You foolish girl!” Mom cried, picking up a dry stick from the ground. “I’ll beat you!” Karuuparerue began crying and ran away. Mom didn’t chase or beat her. She just waved the stick in the air to show that she was very angry. Karuuparerue returned home with the water to help Mom make maize porridge for lunch.
Emmanuel had never seen Jesus with his eyes. He had never read the Bible with his eyes. But he was reading the Bible with his fingers, and he believed that Jesus loved him. He was baptized and promised to serve Jesus with his life. But would Jesus make his life a success?
