Jesus’ ministry was deeply personal, compassionate, and intentional. Rather than expecting people to come to Him, He actively stepped into their lives, offering hope, healing, and genuine connection. His approach was both practical and powerful—meeting people in their everyday experiences and speaking to the needs of their hearts.
Global Mission follows this same biblical model as we reach new communities and plant churches in places still waiting to encounter Christ.
Mingle with people – Jesus went where people lived, worked, and gathered, building relationships in natural, everyday settings.
Show sympathy – He offered sincere care, listening with compassion and entering into people’s joys and sorrows.
Minister to their needs – He brought healing, hope, and practical help, responding to both physical and spiritual needs with love.
Win their confidence – Through consistent kindness and presence, He earned trust and opened hearts to deeper truth.
Invite them to follow Him – After showing what God’s love looks like in action, He called people into a life of discipleship and transformation.
True mission reflects Christ’s love in motion. When we follow Christ’s method:
People see faith in practice.
They feel valued and understood.
They trust the message because they trust the messenger.
Decisions for Christ come naturally through personal experience.
By following Christ’s example, we create faith communities that embody His compassion, reflect His character, and invite others into His grace.
As Ellen G. White beautifully wrote, “Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, ‘Follow Me.’” (Ministry of Healing, p. 143).
The Seventh-day Adventist Church continues to grow because of its commitment to church planting—establishing new groups of believers in unentered areas and among new people groups. The church will only grow as long as we keep planting new congregations.
Millions of people have never heard the name of Jesus and live in communities with no Adventist presence. These include large urban centers, remote villages, and cultural or religious groups unfamiliar with Christianity. Global Mission prioritizes these groups by sending pioneers, establishing Urban Centers of Influence, and using contextualized ministry to share the gospel in a way that resonates.
