Nandor went to public school in Austria, and he didn’t like it at all. The other boys used bad language, and after school, they often did unkind things. Some of them even scared him—they were just plain mean.

Nandor really wished he could go to a different school.

Then, at church, he heard about a Seventh-day Adventist school at Bogenhofen.

“We have a school here,” people said. “Nandor could study here.”

Nandor longed to attend the Adventist school, but it felt like an impossible dream. He lived in a town quite far from Bogenhofen. The drive took 50 minutes each way, and it would be difficult for his parents to take him back and forth every day.

But Nandor really wanted to go. So, he began to pray—earnestly and every day.

“Dear God, can I please go to the Adventist school?” he pleaded.

He prayed every day for six months.

Then, one day, Father and Mother decided they should try to move. If they could find a house closer to the school, Nandor could attend. But it wasn’t easy to find such a house. Many people wanted to live near the school. So, Nandor added another request to his prayers.

“Dear God, please help us find a house,”
he prayed.

Then, something amazing happened. A man called Nandor’s mother to tell her about a house for sale near the school. 

Nandor’s mother had shared her phone number at church, hoping someone would call if they heard of a house for sale. This man had received her number and remembered her when he saw the house.

“I have found a house,” he said. “Perhaps it’s for you.”

Mother was thrilled and drove out to see the house right away. An elderly woman lived there, and she came out to greet her.

“I heard that you’re selling your house,” Mother said. 

“Oh, yes, come in,” the old woman replied.

Soon, that house became Nandor’s new home. 

Many people at church were surprised to learn that Nandor and his family had moved close to the school.

“We don’t understand how you got this house,” they said. “So many people want to move here, and you’re not even from the area.”

But Nandor knew how it had happened. He had prayed, and God had answered.

He began attending the Adventist school, and he quickly made new friends. The new school was completely different from his old one. The children were kind and polite, and he looked forward to going every day. Each day, he prayed, “Thank You, God!”

Nandor has now attended the Adventist school for two years—and he couldn’t be happier.

“I’m very thankful,” he said. “I prayed and got a house and a school!”
