Mary (a fictitious name) was born without hearing, and an uncle raised her because her parents died when she was little. Her uncle searched for a long time for a free school for deaf children but could not find one. Then a family friend recommended the Mwata Adventist Boarding School for Deaf Children. The uncle did not have money for the tuition, but he visited the school anyway.
