My name is Giovan Monteiro. I’m from Brazil and I’m a pastor. I’ve been in Egypt since 2012. We received a call, me and my family, to work in this field for a special program to open the center to help people in the Middle East.

When we started Hope Center we think to help the people, help the community and to change the lifestyle. The idea for Hope Center is to help the people in 3 different areas; emotional, physical, and intellectual.

You have a lot of people here in Cairo who can speak English, but many of them want to but they can’t speak in English. We have a language course. Not only only in English but Portuguese too because we have many Egyptians who want to know how to speak Portuguese because of business.

This is the intellectual area, but you have even emotional area because my wife is a graduate in family therapy. She has been helping people about feelings and how to live with children, especially moms, and the challenge they have. You have many people with feelings problems. She has been helping them. This issue specifically became very good because when they are in the sessions talking to her, they are confident with her. They start talking about not feelings, but they start to open their hearts. Then the opportunity you have to talking a little bit to go deep in some issues.

The idea for the Hope Center is this. Help the community to change them in many different ways. Emotional, intellectual, and health. When they come here they know this is a Christian place, but most of them feel comfortable. They say, ‘this is nice, it’s clean’ and you try to make them feel like they’re home. When we have events we invite them to come to parties. They feel very comfortable here. The reaction then is good. They have a very nice reaction.

I ask you if you can pray for us for God to send the Holy Spirit to help us in all the challenges we have to lead the people here.
