For so long, Fiona, a teacher in the public school system longed for a place where she could freely share her faith. At Riverside SDA School, she’s now doing just that—teaching her students and pointing them to Jesus every day.
For 18 years, Fiona taught young learners in the public school system. As a Seventh-day Adventist, she faced challenges. She was unable to openly share her faith and struggled to observe the Sabbath amid school demands. Yet, through it all, Fiona remained true to her beliefs, praying for the chance to teach in a school where she could integrate her faith into her teaching.
Her prayers were answered when she was offered a position at Riverside SDA Primary School—a place where her love for teaching and her passion for Christ could be combined. Here, Fiona found herself part of a faith-filled community.
“Here within our Adventist schools, it’s such an honor to be able to pray and worship, to actually spread the love of Jesus. I think that is what makes Christian education so different.”
For Fiona, this was the environment she had always dreamed of. Now, she not only teaches the standard curriculum but also shares Jesus with her students every day.
But the story of this school’s success extends beyond just the dedicated teachers and staff. Several years ago, Riverside School received critical support from the 13th Sabbath Offering.
“What you currently see is the new building block that has been supplied or built because of the mission offerings in 2012. And we are really, really grateful to the world field for this offering.”
Fiona and her colleagues are deeply grateful to church members around the world for giving to the 13th Sabbath Offering. Your gifts are enabling Riverside SDA Primary School to not only educate but also nurture the faith of every child who walks through its doors, including students such as Cullinan.
“I like that the Bible has lots of laws to keep us in line and that it teaches us a lot about God.”
“When we integrate God within our lessons, our children not only learn about the curriculum, but they also get to know about Jesus and want to live a better life.”
Thank you for giving to the 13th Sabbath Offering, and for continuing to support schools such as Riverside that empower young minds and strengthen their faith in Christ.
