Over the past few years, bonds have deepened among the members of Ethusa, and they’ve built a family. One young person shared how the church has helped them become a better version of themselves by learning about active listening and taking accountability.
When young people begin disappearing from church pews, it’s often for this reason: they don’t feel seen.
Ethusa, meaning “the room”, is a youth-focused church plant in Athens dedicated to changing that narrative. The church is led by Global Mission pioneer Moses Siwale and a team of young professionals. Ethusa was created not only to welcome young people but also to empower them.
“We believe it’s time to shift how we ‘do’ church,” says one church leader. “It’s time to trust the youth to reach the youth.”
The vibrant church hosts worship services, personal development seminars, mental health workshops, concerts, young adult retreats, Bible study, midweek prayer, visitations to sick youth, and so many other social activities. These activities are designed to help young people bond, feel valued, and gain experience in church leadership.
