Thanks to your past 13th Sabbath Offering, youth in Mongolia are finding both practical skills and hope in Jesus. Your continued prayers and support help keep this mission alive.
Everyone knows that youth are the future of a country. In Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, many young people seek training schools to help them secure jobs. Since such training is scarce outside the city, many move from remote areas to Ulaanbaatar for these opportunities.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church, through Sahmyook Vocational School, sees this need as an opportunity to provide specialized training to help youth secure jobs and support themselves financially.
“We aim to share the gospel with our students. We organize Sabbath activities, and after the Sabbath, we engage in social work to help others. Through these activities, our students learn how to love people and experience the love of God.”
The school offers a variety of activities on Sabbath.
“We do social work for people who are poor or need food or other assistance. Initially, students were really interested in our activities, such as the Sabbath afternoon programs. After one or two months, we started talking about God and studying the Bible together.”
“I enjoy the Sabbath activities the most because it's a half-day gathering. At school, many classmates come together to relax, chat, discuss, and share meals. Afterwards, we participate in fun extracurricular activities. The lively and enjoyable atmosphere makes this school truly exciting.”
The Sahmyook Vocational School was established to address Mongolia's need for vocational skills development in areas such as cooking, hairdressing, beauty services, and publishing.
During their training, the students not only gain valuable skills, but also make meaningful contributions to the community. They distribute essential items to children in need and the elderly during New Year celebrations, and offer their skills to the community free of charge.
“The most unforgettable moment was witnessing the reaction given by the elderly. While distributing groceries from caring families to those in need, one elderly man broke into tears and said how wonderful it feels when someone visits. That heartfelt moment left a profound and lasting impact on me.”
After completing their course, unfortunately, many students face challenges due to the lack of barbershops, restaurants, factories, or companies that will accommodate their request to not work on Sabbath. For this, your prayers are greatly needed.
“Please pray for our center and school, that many students may come to our school, learn about God, and that we may have more Adventist Christian teachers and workers here in Mongolia.”
